There’s nothing quite like Bonfire Night in Nottinghamshire, the crackle of fireworks, the warmth of the fire, and the comforting smell of delicious food in the air. This year, the Spitting Pig Nottingham team had the pleasure of helping Emily host a truly unforgettable Bonfire Night celebration in Mansfield, serving up one of our signature hog roast feasts that kept everyone warm and well-fed all evening long.
As the bonfire flickered and fireworks began to light up the sky, our chefs were busy carving a whole roasted pig, cooked slowly to perfection until the meat was tender and the crackling irresistibly crisp. Guests were treated to generous helpings of juicy pork served with our traditional accompaniments ,smooth apple sauce and flavourful sage and onion stuffing, for that classic roast combination everyone loves.
To make things even better, guests could build their perfect roll or wrap from our selection of bread rolls and wraps, with gluten-free options available on request. It was hearty, hands-on food that suited the relaxed, outdoor atmosphere perfectly, and the queues at the serving station were proof of how
much everyone was enjoying it!
Of course, we made sure that vegetarian and vegan guests were just as spoiled for choice. Our grilled vegetable and halloumi skewers (served without halloumi for vegans) went down a treat, paired with wraps, creamy tzatziki, and a sweet and punchy chilli sauce for that extra kick. Meanwhile, our vegan pulled jackfruit, marinated in a smoky hickory BBQ sauce, and topped with crunchy slaw, offered a mouth-watering plant-based alternative that was just as warming and satisfying.
Everything was served onto disposable plates with napkins, making it easy for guests to enjoy their meal while gathered around the bonfire, watching the fireworks burst overhead.
It was a night full of warmth, laughter, and flavour, the perfect recipe for a Bonfire Night to remember. The Spitting Pig Nottingham team were thrilled to be part of Emily’s celebration and proud to serve food that helped make the evening truly sparkle.
