Lovers of beer, traditional dancing and great food will know that nothing – and I mean nothing – comes close to Oktoberfest! As the world’s largest Volkfest, this legendary 16-18 day long festival is annually observed by millions of people across the globe, and its growing popularity has seen the celebrations seep into the final weeks of September when the days are longer; and the weather is warmer (and hopefully drier!) instead of being constrained to the eponymous October.
With that in mind, Oktoberfest celebrations are set to officially begin later on this month, and as a result, our team here at Hog Roast Keyworth have been busy preparing for the many, many bookings we’ve received recently. After last year’s festivities fell through, our customers and clients have since been determined to make this year’s comeback one to remember, and one client who can hardly wait to clash pints and sing folk songs with his mates is Marcus.
Every year, with the exception of 2020, Marcus and his friends have purchased tickets to Munich, a.k.a. the heart of Oktoberfest, but with this year’s event also cancelled, the festival enthusiast decided to take matters into his own hands. So, instead of jetting off to Germany, Marcus will be staying home, where he has invited his friends round for a scaled-down version of their favourite holiday.
Specially for the occasion, Marcus plans to cover his garden in traditional blue and white decorations, serve some of the finest German ales from his garden bar and, as a final surprise, treat his friends to one of Hog Roast Keyworth’s lip-smacking spit roasts.
As always, our catering manager, James, was a real help to Marcus when it came to choosing the perfect menu for the evening, which will be our Classic Hog Roast Menu, served using eco-friendly crockery and cutlery. Consisting of delicious pulled pork, salty crackling and rich and flavoursome homemade sage and onion stuffing with wholemeal and gluten-free rolls, this traditional Hog Roast Keyworth feast is guaranteed to leave the guests speechless when the time comes – here’s hoping the weather will be on our side, though!
