What an incredible event we have to share with you from Hog Roast Ockbrook’s weekend. A real joy of our jobs is that we get to join for some truly joyous (and often ludicrous) evenings such as this.
Right away we knew we were onto a winner from the very first call, as James contacted the Hog Roast Ockbrook team to arrange a barbecue for his mum’s 70th birthday. The twist? In order to properly mark this milestone birthday, it was to be a full on 70s tribute night with 70s and 80s rock glam tribute bands, plenty of bright and colourful wigs, 70s décor and dress, and tight trousers an absolute must. We have a few in the Hog Roast Ockbrook team that will remember those times well, so of course we were down to get involved in all the fun!
As you might imagine, the event was every bit as silly and fun as it sounds. Guests came dressed to impress in their best/worst 70s flared trousers, floral patterns, disco glasses, hippie wear and bright glam rock wigs. The 70s tribute band also kept the good vibes going with some excellent 70s and 80s hit scoring over the entire evening. Meanwhile, while not jamming out ourselves, the Hog Roast Ockbrook team fuelled proceedings with our gourmet barbecue range. We had gourmet sausages and marinated chicken thighs down on the grill while our hog roast provided a tonne of fresh pulled pork for rolls and wraps too. Guests that had partied too hard could also cool off with our refreshing Greek salad, creamy slaw, and our chef’s own pasta salad, along with roasted baby new potatoes and veg and halloumi skewers with a tzatziki dip and sweet chilli sauce. While the menu might not have screamed 70s, the rest of the night more than made up for it!
