Whether it’s Home Alone, The Grinch, Love Actually or Die Hard, we all have a fave festive flick that never fails to put us in the holiday spirit; and without it, Christmas just wouldn’t be the same. But there’s something even better than watching any of these classics while cosied up on the sofa with a blanket and a hot chocolate in hand – and that’s seeing them on the big screen! With that in mind, we’re excited to tell you about what Hog Roast Costock got up to recently…
Bringing a wave of nostalgia to Nottinghamshire, Derek had gone to a lot of trouble to organise a Christmas movie drive-in for locals to view the season’s best-loved films from the cosy confines of their own cars. The planned event spanned a three-day period (Friday night, Saturday and Sunday), and each day saw at least 100 motors pull into the spacious lot for a 90-minute Xmas extravaganza.
Knowing that you just can’t host any cinematic experience without supplying snacks or food of some kind, Derek had come to Hog Roast Costock to arrange a tasty hog roast treat for the ticket holders. On this occasion, everyone agreed that our Classic Hog Roast Menu best fit the brief, as it is both simple and mind-blowingly delicious.
Each day, Hog Roast Costock arrived at the venue bright and early to begin the preparations for the slow roast. This involved unloading the van, setting up the catering stall and slicing the skin of the pig, rubbing it with salt and dousing it with water before allowing it to slow-cook in the HogMaster all afternoon. These extra steps are what ensure our legendary crackling, which pairs beautifully with the soft and succulent meat inside and the lightly crisp savoury stuffing.
Derek was delighted with the results, and the guests adored having our hog roast rolls and home-cut fries to munch while the movie played on a giant projector screen. All profits made from the experience were then donated to a handful of great causes that Derek had chosen to support, and we’re pleased to announce that he absolutely smashed his goal!
