In the true spirit of Christmas, we proudly witnessed our fellow Nottinghamshire residents come together to take part in a heart warming and active event orchestrated by local event organisers, Robyn and Carly! Their concept? A festive dash, which not only encouraged people of all ages to participate in a charity fun run around local landmarks but also exemplified the essence of giving during the holiday season.
Fully embracing the festive theme behind this charity event, many of the participants had donned inflatable snowmen, reindeer, and Santa costumes, which transformed a gloomy day with plentiful rain showers into a lively spectacle, which made for hilarious viewing for the bystanders.
The culmination of the run was marked by a welcome sight for the weary participants – a stall set up by Hog Roast Brinsley, ready to reward their efforts with a hearty treat. Our catering managers, Darren and Claire, dished out steaming hot hog roast rolls, a perfect remedy to the chilly weather. Packed with succulent pulled pork, crispy crackling, savoury sage and onion stuffing, and a dollop of our famous homemade applesauce, these rolls became a well-deserved reward for the runners, joggers, and walkers.
For those who had adopted a plant-based lifestyle, Hog Roast Brinsley had something else up our sleeves – BBQ-pulled jackfruit rolls, which ensured that everyone could partake in the post-run feast. The cheers and laughter resonated as participants gathered around to refuel and share stories of their festive dash adventures.
The success of the event, measured not just in miles covered but in the generosity of participants, left Robyn and Carly elated. The funds raised from the event through entry fees, sponsorships and additional donations, will undoubtedly make a meaningful impact on the chosen cause.
Still buzzing with enthusiasm following the success of this event, the dynamic duo is already brainstorming ideas for their next charity fundraiser, and it will probably come as no surprise to hear that they want Hog Roast Brinsley to be an integral part of it!
