Our Hog Roast Bolsover team were (unsurprisingly!) rushed off their feet last weekend due to all of the local Mother’s Day celebrations we had been asked to help out with. Ranging from traditional afternoon teas and boozy brunches to crafty afternoons and beyond, no two events were alike, which made our job all the more interesting!
As you can probably imagine, we had a great time at each and every event we attended, and we’re so grateful to all those who booked with Hog Roast Bolsover in the run-up to this all-important celebration! But the one event that sticks out the most in our memory is the one we handled for event organiser Laura.
Ahead of Mother’s Day 2023, Laura had been placed in charge of coming up with an ingenious way to celebrate mums, while also raising awareness and encouraging contributions to charities that support women’s health. What she settled on was an open-air cinematic experience of everyone’s favourite feel-good film: Mamma Mia!
To give room for the fundraising aspect of the event, the movie was broken up by some short talks from charity representatives, along with a raffle, where guests were able to try their luck at winning some fantastic prizes. There were also popcorn, candyfloss, and ice cream stands dotted around the venue for guests with sweet tooths!
Hog Roast Bolsover was there, too, of course, and as always, we blew the ticket holders away with our sumptuous slow-roasted hog, which our team had spent all morning cooking. The tender and juicy meat was encased in a layer of perfectly crispy and lightly salted crackling, which we served on gluten-free rolls with savoury sage and onion stuffing and a spoonful of homemade applesauce.
Coleslaw, mixed sweet potato and regular fries and light and leafy salads with ripe tomatoes were served alongside our famous hog roast rolls, which the guests couldn’t get enough of. Even the veggie and vegan guests were in their element as they happily sunk their teeth into our glorious BBQ-pulled jackfruit rolls, which were packed full of irresistible flavours!
Laura was very happy with the outcome of our service and couldn’t thank Hog Roast Bolsover enough for providing such a seamless and unforgettable experience!
