At Hog Roast Carlton we consider ourselves old hat with a little over 20 years as a business, but that pales in comparison to the length of the wondrous marriage of Hugh and Caroline, our lovely customers of the week who called us up late last year to organise event catering for their 40th anniversary which passed just this week. A real red-hot roast for a ruby anniversary – sounds like a perfect pairing to us!
Hog Roast Carlton were of course more than happy to oblige and brought our best to help Hugh and Caroline celebrate their special day in proper style. We’ve known the pair of lovebirds for a while as they have called us out before for previous events, so they were quick and commanding in telling us exactly what they wanted for their Ruby anniversary event.
Hugh has been an avid lover of our speciality hog roast, whereas Caroline prefers her white meats so together we opted for the Hog Roast Carlton formal Hog Roast Dining menu. This ensured they both got the dishes they loved most. With this menu their main course was a selection of two meats, with Hugh of course insisting on our whole roasted free-range pig as a choice, complete with the traditional golden crackling, sage and onion stuffing of our own making, and apple sauce, while Caroline opted for the whole roasted free-range turkey accompanied by our stuffing and the traditional cranberry sauce. These mains are served along with a selection of seasonal leaves, heritage tomato and buffalo mozzarella salad, our vibrant homemade coleslaw, buttered new potatoes, and an alternative offering of veg and halloumi skewers with the same sides.
The main dinner wasn’t all we had in store for the 60 odd guests in attendance. Beginning proceedings was our canapes service, giving guests small bitesize dishes and a welcome drink to help warm up the event. Here the Hog Roast Carlton were handing out our mini pan seared beef fillets, wedges of fresh Scottish smoked salmon served on brown bread, chicken liver parfait, roasted halloumi and tomato crostini, and our mini quiche selection.
We can’t think of many better ways to ring in 40 years of marriage, and from all at Hog Roast Carlton we hope to be around for Hugh and Caroline’s 50th in a few years too!
